With unrestricted carbon content, most cement and building products are now highly corrosive on copper tubing. It is therefore recommended that ALL copper tubing to be encased in cement, should be lagged.

8.4 LAYING OF PIPES

8.4.3.6 All hot water piping, including relief drain pipes, that is encased in concrete,
plaster or similar material that can restrict the movement of such piping owing to
expansion or contraction, shall be lagged throughout the whole encased length with
an approved flexible lagging material.

Plumbing Lagging enhances the saving of water and heat, and cost effectively satisfies the requirements to do Green Environmentally Friendly Plumbing.
